Catastrophic Injury

A baby was injured following a birth in which her shoulders became stuck after the delivery of her head. Her mother had many risk factors that suggested that she may have been too big to be delivered vaginally. The Obstetrician failed to offer her mother a cesarean delivery and her shoulders got stuck in the birth canal upon delivery. The doctor then pulled down on her head and tore the nerves from her spine, leaving her without the use of one arm for her entire life

A jury awarded her the highest medical negligence verdict in the history of the county. The monies from that suit have been structured to provide her with guaranteed income for her adult life and money to pay for the cost of college since she has been put out of the blue collar work force by virtue of her inability to use both hands.
